A road in Dasmarinas village
Barangy Dasmarinas is one of the posh gated communities of Makati City. It occupies about 1.90 square kilometers of the city and was first established as a residential village in 1965. Dasmarinas, or most commonly referred to as Dasma, is famous for its mansions, notable residents and heavy security. The barangay has 6 entrance gates that are all guarded by mobile patrols 24/7. And just across the EDSA road are all the shops, bars and restaurants in the popular Greenbelt area.
Developed in 1965 by Ayala Corporation, Dasmarinas is derived from Gomez Perez Dasmarinas who once served as a governor-general during the Spanish colonization in the Philippines. The governor-general was responsible for supervising the establishment of Intramuros and Fort Santiago in the 16th century. Thus, the barangay only caters to affluent and well-known families of the country and it is the center of diplomacy with several foreign embassies located there.

Location of the Barangay
Don’t get confused with Dasmarinas being a part of Forbes Park, because the former has been a different barangay since 1971. A group of concerned residents led the petition to have Dasma become a separate village from Barangay Forbes Park. It was because Dasma received little attention from the local government unit despite having a larger population than Forbes at that time.
Today, Dasmarinas is bounded by Magallanes (south), San Lorenzo (west), Forbes Park (north), and Taguig (East). By street boundaries, the village is surrounded by Tamarind Street (south), EDSA (north), Amorsolo Street (west), and Banyan Street (east).

Useful Village Amenities
Although considered as purely residential in use, the Colegio de San Agustin (school) is located inside Barangay Dasmariñas. Dasma prides on having a wide range of luxurious real estate properties and amenities. It offers a couple of spacious parks like the Mahogany Park and Campanilla Park where you can relax and inhale fresh air during you days-off. They also have a covered pavilion to hold private events, a sports gymnasium containing basketball, tennis and badminton courts, and a gym. If you’re going to rent a property in Dasma, you would not need to go out of the village to find a dentist or a family doctor since the barangay runs its own medical and dental clinic inside the walls.
