Kasilawan Barangay Hall
One of the Cluster 3 members of Makati City is Barangay Kasilawan. This also means that the barangay is within the scope of the first congressional district. It is considered more of a residential area than a business district, and is the smallest community in the city. However, Kasilawan may be small but it is where the very first Mayor of Makati came from, ex-Mayor Pablo Cortez.
With only 0.946 square kilometers land area, it is no surprise that Kasilawan was a part of the many sitios of Barangay Tejeros. However, some residents have mastered up the courage to fight for their barrio’s separation from Tejeros in 1960. Subsequently, the Provincial Board of Rizal granted the resolution and the formerly known “Suaboy” officially became Barangay Kasilawan.

Location of the Barangay
Kasilawan is limited within the bounds of Delpan Street (north), Sta. Clara Creek (west), H. Santos street (south), and Pascua – Domingo – Mendoza Streets (east). It is near the Philippine Racing Club (PRC) in Carmona, Makati, so going there is quite easy. Additionally, Mandaluyong (east), Tejeros (south) and Manila (north and west) also serve as barangay boundaries of Kasilawan.
Pablo Cortez Residence – If you want to learn more about Makati’s history particularly politics, you must not pass on the opportunity to reside near or visit the residence of the city’s first Mayor. The house is located at Pagkakaisa Street.
Kasilawan may be small but the community efforts and care shown by the residents have garnered them multiple awards. A few examples include;
• 2007 Best PESO Satellite Office
• Cleanest Barangay in Cluster 3
• Most Gender Sensitive Barangay (2006-2008)
• GAD Hall of Fame
The barangay is also the home to notable judiciary officials like Justice Elma Magdangal and Attorney Inigo Fajas.
Lastly, the neighborhood celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of the Abandoned every 12th of May. So, if you want to live in a community that cultivates unity and success among its residents, Kasilawan might be for you.
