The very popular barangay that is San Lorenzo is very close to the center of Makati’s Central Business District (CBD). It is similar to its contemporaries in Bel-Air, Forbes and Urdaneta. In fact it’s one of the richest if not the richest among other villages in the Philippines. Majority of the barangay’s land use is for commercial establishment purposes, with the likes of Ayala Malls, Makati Medical Center, and many famous office buildings.
San Lorenzo was founded in 1954 by the Ayala Corporation. It was designed to be a private and gated community of Makati, but a large part of the barangay has been utilized for commercial use. Therefore, the only gated part of the barangay is the neighborhood consisting primarily of mansions and modern-built houses. San Lorenzo has grown into a rich barangay from its humble beginnings during the mid-20th century.
Location of the Barangay
Right beside Ayala Avenue, San Lorenzo is then bounded by Dasmarinas to the south, portions of Bangkal and Pio del Pilar to the west, Urdaneta to the east and some parts of San Antonio to the north. This, renting in San Lorenzo also gives you convenient access to Pasong Tamo, Gil Puyat Avenue, Ayala Ave and EDSA.
- Surprisingly, San Lorenzo does not have any feast day of a particular saint. But the community does conduct an anniversary celebration every once in a while and a Christmas party.
- San Lorenzo residential area is a 63-hectare of world-class real estate properties, hosting some of the biggest parks in the city.
- There are a large number of foreigners that are currently residing in San Lorenzo, most of which are expats living with their families.
