The Landmark department store
The Landmark is a huge multi-level but down-to-earth department store, with cheaper goods and cheaper prices than the up-scale shops in Makati.
As a result, the place is always packed with everyday, middle-class people. The staff are super friendly. Although the store is always crowded, it serves a real need for regular shoppers on a budget. The supermarket in the basement level is one of the few places in Makati where you can buy San Miguel in the original short bottles…. and at a great price.
The Landmark is Woolworths, Kmart, Big W, Target etc with a heavy dose of chaos. You can find t-shirts with obscene slogans and in the same section you can find t-shirts with quotes from the Bible.
The basement has a grocery, which is, in my opinion the best part. Food overload. Loved that there was a food court, some coffee shops, and the huge grocery where we bought heaps of food. A little too busy, but totally worth it.
One of the covered walkways
I’ve always wondered which genius came up with the idea in linking malls. It makes the trip convenient. You can walk from Greenbelt Malls to The Landmark multi-level department store, then walk to the sprawling Glorietta shopping centre and from there to SM Mall. And undercover all the way.
As usual in most shops, the process of buying something could take a while (they still do those validation slips before you go to the counter for payment). But truth be told, I like their items, and some actually do come at a bargain. Prices were mostly pretty good, and staff were everywhere.
